Together with her class, Annemarie H books a language trip to Rome. When making the booking she takes out the school children and student cover from Europäische Reiseversicherung. Her academic progress does not go as planned and she is not able to go on to the next school level. Her trip to Rome has to be cancelled. The cancellation costs of 630 Euros are paid by Europäische Reiseversicherung.
School Children and Student-Cover can also be taken out for a semester or internship abroad. Please notice the maximal travel period of 11 months in total.
If you unexpectedly become ill during an insured trip, we reimburse the treatment costs (even if the originally planned end of your trip is already past) until such time as we can transport you back to Austria, for a maximum of 90 days following the occurrence of the insured event.
With School Children and Student-Cover you can choose between “Europe” and “worldwide” as the area of validity.
The “Europe“ area of validity includes Europe in the geographical sense, all states and islands bordering on the Mediterranean, Jordan, Madeira and the Canary Islands.

Who is authorised to cancel?
The ensured event shall apply to the insured person concerned.
The School Children and Student-Cover applies to School Children and Students up to 28 years of age (28th birthday before the date of the start of the trip).
Provided you have not started your trip, you can take out a Complete-Cover Standard policy. If you take out cover via the Internet site, your insurance policy will be immediately displayed and sent to you by email by way of confirmation.
Please note however that if insurance is taken out after the day on which you make your travel booking, a “waiting period” applies in respect of cancellation benefits, i.e. the cancellation cover applies only from the 10th day after the insurance has been taken out (except in the case of accident, death or act of God).
For example: if you book your summer holiday in January and take out travel insurance on 1 March, the cover in respect of cancellation does not start until 11 March.
