Eco Camping - sustainable camping works

Camping is a very nature-oriented way to spend a holiday, but it also has an impact on the environment. Here some tips ...

Pack sustainably

You can already make sustainable choices when packing. When it comes to camping, less is more. Only pack what you truly need. Well-equipped campsites often have washing machines, so you can wash your clothes there if necessary.

Consume consciously

Use electricity and water only as long as needed. Avoid unnecessary plastic bags and packaging whenever possible.

Choose sustainable accommodations

More and more campsites are focusing on eco-friendliness. All camping options are certified with at least one of three environmental labels: the EU Ecolabel, Ecocamping, or Climate-Friendly Campsite. These organizations regularly check the following criteria:

  • Waste reduction
  • Waste separation
  • Use of environmentally friendly cleaning products
  • Efficient use of water
  • Use of bicycles instead of cars

Support local offerings

Do your shopping at local farmers' markets instead of supermarkets. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant rather than at large international chains. You might even have the chance to chat with a local who can share practical tips with you.
