Frequently asked questions regarding travel cover in Europe and worldwide
The “Europe“ area of validity includes Europe in the geographical sense, all the Mediterranean states and islands, Jordan, Madeira, the Azores and the Canary Islands, with the exception of Belarus, Russia, Syria, Crimea and the regions of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Luhansk.
These states are, precisely: Egypt; Albania; Algeria; Andorra; Belgium; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Bulgaria; Denmark including the Faroe Islands (not Greenland); Germany; Estonia; Finland; France (excluding the overseas territories); Greece; Great Britain and Northern Island including the Shetland Islands, the Orkney Islands, Gibraltar, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; Ireland; Iceland; Israel including the Gaza strip, West Jordan and the Golan Heights; Italy; Jordan; Kosovo; Croatia; Latvia; Lebanon; Libya; Liechtenstein; Lithuania; Luxemburg; Macedonia; Malta; Morocco (not the western Sahara occupied by Morocco); Moldavia; Monaco; Montenegro; the Netherlands; Norway including Spitzbergen; Bear Island and Jan Mayen Island; Austria; Poland; Portugal including Madeira and the Azores; Romania; San Marino; Sweden; Switzerland; Serbia; Slovakia; Slovenia; Spain including the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla; the Czech Republic; Tunisia; Turkey; Ukraine (with the exception of Crimea and the regions of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Luhansk); Hungary; the Vatican State; Cyprus.
The “Worldwide” area of validity includes all countries of the earth, with the exception of Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Crimea and the regions of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Luhansk.
Due to the current political and military situation, the sanctions, airspace closures and deactivated payment facilities we currently do not offer insurance for travel to Ukraine, Russia or Belarus.

Our Online claim report is the quickest and easiest way to process your claim. Please report any claims as soon as possible via Online claim report at www.europaeische.at/en/claims

Whether other people who are covered by the policy can cancel depends on the product you have chosen. You will find details relating to this in your insurance terms. Alternatively, please contact our contract management team by phone for advice +43 1 317 25 00.
Please check whether you have only entered one part of the country or one region. Please always use the travel country (e.g. not “Gran Canaria” but “Spain”). If the travel country you are looking for is not in the list of countries, we are unfortunately unable to offer insurance cover for this country at the moment (e.g. for Ukraine, Russia or Belarus).
Some credit cards offer included travel insurance. However, please note that this insurance coverage is usually subject to conditions, such as paying for the trip with that card. The most important questions you should clarify with your credit card provider:
- What services are covered?
- What conditions are attached to the insurance coverage?
- Is international travel health insurance included with my card?
- Within what timeframe before the claim must I have used the card for payments?
- Does my credit card also offer insurance coverage in case of trip cancellation?
- If so, for which types of trips is cancellation coverage included?
- What spending limits do I have to meet to be insured in case of cancellation?
- Is trip interruption also covered?
- What are the coverage limits for the respective services?
- What deductibles do I have to pay?
